Product launch - Ago 2023 Collection.

At Euroluce during this years Milan Design Week Ago Lighting launched four new lighting collections with designers Sebastian Herkner, Sylvain Willenz, and BYMARS.

COTTON by Sebastian Herkner

With its playful design, COTTON’s dome-like pendant offers a unique character with a fresh new attitude.

COTTON is available in two sizes of ceiling pendant and a table lamp allowing the collection to be placed into multiple contexts - from a private dining table to a public canteen; from a cosy corner to a public library. There are many ways to set the COTTON in the right light.

‘The collection is inspired by a photo of balls of wool I took at a rug-making workshop. In the image, the balls somehow intersect each other to create a new volume, like a soap bubble. I like the way geometric shapes create a new, more organic one by moving them into each other.’ – Sebastian Herkner

FLIP by Sebastian Herkner

FLIP, as the name readily illustrates, is about the use of movement to direct light.

The ceiling pendant offers the opportunity to interact with the shade to manipulate the amount of light cast downwards, as well as up. The result is a skilful combination of clever design, a graphic silhouette and quality craftspersonship.

‘I see it, for example, next to the bed. For reading you get direct light and for relaxing you spread the light towards the ceiling. You can also find similar situations at work or in presentations, as with retail displays. The best design is always an intuitive one that is also self-explanatory.’ – Sebastian Herkner

DOMINO by Sylvain Willenz

DOMINO is as much a functional lamp as it is beautiful. The forms of DOMINO modules are simultaneously restrained and remarkable. They carry codes of technical precision whilst invoking familiar feelings of nostalgia.

The lamp can be set individually, for example above a meeting table or bar. But it can also be combined to form linear or grid-based compositions for larger spaces like atriums or liminal spaces.

With its balance of refined features and design details, combined with versatile lighting performance, the DOMINO collection is suitable for both residential and commercial applications.

‘The idea for DOMINO came from a series of shapes I have designed for a ceramic art collection called HOLEY FRAGMENTS. The different modules - square, rectangular and round carry a regular pattern of round holes in their surfaces. I translated these elements to create a modular lighting system, characterised by its repetitive pattern and detail. I wanted DOMINO to have a certain seriousness to it, to be fit for office usage, but also have enough softness to be used at home.’ – Sylvain Willenz

VOYAGE by BYMARS

Soft light and textile tension characterise the VOYAGE collection of round and linear pendants with a floor lamp.

Here the light is diffused through the textile shade, held taut against a curved frame to create a smooth luminous surface. This combination creates a warm solid volume of light that harmonises well with any residential or hospitality space.

‘The VOYAGE series embodies images of sails harnessing the wind, ships cutting through waves alongside migrating whales. Inspired by the wind and sea that symbolise Jeju Island off the south coast of South Korea. The gentle volumes of the lampshades are made of shapes that embody this natural force.’ – Mars
